Here are a few ideas of what you can reuse and repurpose in order to reduce your plastic footprint and stop plastic polluting our Ocean.
1. Buy a reusable shopping bag
2. Use a reusable drinking cup
3. Buy fruit and vegetables with plastic-free packaging
4. Buy loose foods, avoid single-use packets
5. Buy meat or fish with plastic-free packaging
6. Use plastic free cosmetics
7. Make your own lunch instead of buying one wrapped in a single-use plastic
8. Swap over to reusable milk bottles
9. Try a plastic free period - check out mooncups, and reusable applicators
10. Use a silicone lid instead of cling-film
11. Buy your butter wrapped in paper - you don’t need a plastic butter dish
12. Choose cans over bottles when buying fizzy drinks and never buy bottled water
13. Avoid balloon releases, the chances are the balloons will land in the Ocean
14. Cigarette filters contain plastic – could be another reason to stop smoking…
15. Wear clothes made from natural fibres like cotton, linen, bamboo or hemp
16. Try using pencils instead of pens. If you use a biro – use one that can be re-filled
17. Ditch the single-use razors, nappies, and lighters. We have alternatives
18. Avoid plastic accessories, such as, hair bands and clips
19. Say no to plastic straws - go for paper
20. Pick up litter – even if it isn’t yours! Don’t let it reach our drains and waterways
